Custom colour matching and custom fabric printing for two mid-century armchairs
Do you love mid century design? We sure do! So when one of our clients asked us to help her reupholster a vintage arm chair, we were more than excited. Jessica wanted to create an entirely custom look based on colours from her favourite art piece. We helped with the colour matching, digital printing and selection of fabric to create two stunning pieces for her home.
To get the project started, Jessica brought her favourite art piece into our factory so that we could begin the colour matching process. To match on the spot we used our colour blankets which are large pre-printed pieces of fabric that contain almost every Pantone colour you can imagine on it. In the front studio of our factory we worked together to narrow down the colour choices by comparing them to the artwork.
Jessica wanted one plain green chair to suit the water and the other in our new Antony print (which she declared she’d seen on our Instagram and “immediately fell in love with it!”) with varying tones from the terracotta coloured dwellings.
After several colour options were chosen, Jessica looked through our wide selection of upholstery textiles and picked Marilyn, our wonderfully soft matte velvet.
She took the artwork back and the following day we printed five 30cm x 30cm swatches on the Marilyn fabric and sent them to her so that she could examine them in her home.
After careful consideration, Jessica selected green number #1 and the printing process began!
We took the fabric to her chosen re-upholsterer and waited with as much anticipation as she for the completed product.
The green armchair is in Jessica’s living room for reading and quiet time, while the Antony armchair is in her bedroom as the ideal chair for getting ready.
